Oxford Prospects Program (2023)

In the summer of 2023, Hong’ao travelled to The Great Britain as a participant of the 2023 Oxford Prospects Program affiliated with Regent Park’s College. He was hosted at Wolfson’s College for two weeks and attended many inspiringly brilliant lectures given by Oxford scholars.

Though the tour from Chongqing to Oxford was devious, including a transient stay in the Abu Dhabi International Airport, the scenaries, knowledge, and food offered in England were so rewarding. The program covered quite many places of interest: Windsor, Silverstone, Houses of Parliament, River Thames… During breaks, students were also encouraged to tour around Oxford, spend a whole day in Blackwells, or check out the lovely bristos.

During his stay, Hong’ao enjoyed the British cuisine as much as the intellecural and cultural heritage, especially a purple vegetable he had never tasted before.

As part of the project, Hong’ao teamed up with his follows in making short films as well as carrying out local food surveys. They focused on the diatery discrepencies between Chinese and English residents, visiting cusines in small alleys and on side of broad ways. They won the best presentation of the program [PPT].
